A turn across your lane
On Hollywood Boulevard or Sheridan Street, note the direction each vehicle traveled, the driveway or intersection, and any sight obstruction. A street name alone cannot explain the turn.

Sorting out payment for care
Usually, car PIP does not cover injuries you suffer while occupying a motorcycle. A policy on a car parked at home is not a substitute for checking the coverage that applies to this crash.
Bring the motorcycle policy, health insurance details, and any letter from an insurer. We can examine the available routes while keeping current treatment bills separate from a later injury settlement.
Coverage to review, and the questions each raises
Your health plan
Covered care while responsibility for the collision is being investigated.
Which providers are covered, your share of costs, and any right to repayment from a recovery.
Motorcycle medical payments
Medical expenses within applicable purchased benefits.
The actual policy, who is insured, exclusions, and the benefit limit.
The other driver’s liability policy
Compensation for proven losses when an insured driver is legally responsible.
Coverage and fault. A liability claim does not necessarily pay each new bill as it arrives.
Uninsured motorist coverage
A possible claim when the responsible driver lacks enough applicable bodily injury insurance.
Motorcycle and other potentially applicable policies, coverage selections, and notice requirements.
Keep all pages of the policy, not just the insurance card. A coverage review can uncover questions that the card alone cannot answer.
Putting the crash sequence first
We test the account against the rider’s path, the other vehicle’s movement, and the available evidence. The fact that someone was riding a motorcycle does not establish how the collision happened.
On Hollywood Boulevard or Sheridan Street, note the direction each vehicle traveled, the driveway or intersection, and any sight obstruction. A street name alone cannot explain the turn.
On I-95 or US 1, the lane positions and timing can matter more than where the vehicles stopped. Dash-camera footage, witnesses, and impact marks may help reconstruct that sequence.
Identify the vehicle or hazard that prompted your maneuver. A bike can go down without a direct impact, but the claim still needs evidence of someone else’s legal responsibility.
Shared fault can change the outcome. In negligence actions covered by Florida’s rule, your share of fault reduces damages, and being more than 50 percent at fault bars recovery. A citation or insurer’s first decision does not settle that percentage.
Florida’s rule for shared fault ↗A first call can be simple
A report number, the date, and the names of the insurers are useful starting points. If the tow yard has sent a deadline or an adjuster wants a statement, mention that first. We can discuss the next steps before you spend hours sorting every receipt.
Calling for an injured family member is fine. We will explain what permission or legal authority is needed before discussing private details or acting on their behalf.
The part a repair estimate misses
That may mean getting dressed, arranging a ride, or asking someone to cover another shift.
A motorcycle injury can leave you dependent on help you never needed before. A visitor may also be trying to coordinate care after returning home from Hollywood.
Tell us what has changed and who is helping. Clear examples of your daily limits can be more useful than a broad statement that life is harder.
Protecting what is still available
Find out where it is, who controls its release, and whether repair, sale, or disposal is scheduled. Bring any storage notice to the consultation so an inspection and mounting charges can be considered together.
Keep the report number and witnesses’ contact details. Note nearby businesses, dash cameras, or a building that faced the turning vehicle. Footage may be erased before a claim is resolved.
An A1A driveway, a US 1 lane change, and an I-95 merge call for different evidence. Give the direction, approximate time, and nearest entrance or cross street. Do not return to a dangerous roadway to collect it.
Photograph damage if safe. Tell us where the helmet, jacket, boots, and detached parts are kept before anything is repaired, cleaned, discarded, or sold.
Preserving evidence does not mean ignoring storage bills. An attorney can assess what must be documented or inspected while you address the yard’s charges and deadlines.
Keep messages, photographs, recordings, discharge papers, and work records. Preserve an original camera file if you have one, as well as any edited clip.
If you cannot remember the impact, say so. Emergency records and other evidence may help fill gaps without asking you to guess.
For a crash involving a commercial vehicle, our Hollywood truck accident page explains additional company and vehicle records that may matter.
Showing the injury’s cost
A repair estimate says little about your injury claim. The value depends on responsibility, medical evidence, lasting limits, available insurance, and the losses the law permits you to prove.
Keep treatment bills and your clinicians’ plans for rehabilitation, medication, equipment, or future care. An attorney does not decide what treatment you need.
Save schedules, pay records, used leave, and any written restrictions. For a Hollywood hospitality worker, missed evening or weekend shifts may be important. A self-employed rider may need invoices and business records.
Note which tasks you cannot manage, who has taken them over, and how often. Include sleep, mobility, and activities affected by the injury.
The bike claim may settle before the injury claim. Check whether a proposed release covers only property damage or also gives up other claims.
Questions before you make a decision
A few details can change the answer. These are reasons to have the facts reviewed, including the policy language and the crash date.
